Bear's 10 Month Pictures 3-17-08
I thought I would post some of Bear's 10 month pictures.
He is growing so fast. I know that all babies grow up fast, but this kid is really getting big. I guess the head full of hair doesn't help! His Daddy really wants to take him to the barber, but I am a little reluctant. I know I will miss his cute curls. Anyways, here are the pictures...

I am a real sucker for the cheesy bath tub pictures :-)

Injustice... 3-14-08
I am so upset right now. I don't really want to give details, but I'll try to explain the horrible events that took place yesterday without getting too much into it...
I was driving Sweet Pea to school when I noticed someone was pulled over on the side of the road. I didn't want to stare, but I did glance and noticed that it was somebody I knew. Then, I REALLY didn't want to stare. Just then, N called me on my cell phone, so I thought, "What a great distraction". But as I was passing by slowly (it was in a neighborhood) I could tell the person was trying to talk to me. So, I stopped and rolled down my window and as I looked closer, I realized they were getting handcuffed! They asked me for a favor and the trembling in their voice ripped my heart out. I mean this wasn't some bad person who was in trouble a lot - in fact, they are a good person and seem so helpful and kind. It literally made me sick to my stomach to see them helpless and upset. I quickly told N I had to go and I hung up the phone. As I left to go do the favor, I lost it. I can't explain the helplessness I felt because this good "kid" was getting treated like a criminal and there was really nothing they (or I) could do. When I went back by, I waited for a while to try to help in any way I could, but the police told me there wasn't anything I could do because of "something". So, after 20 minutes of waiting, I left to take SP to school and I promised to be back to see if I could do ANYTHING.
Then, I got a hold of N again and I asked him to go by and see if he could help. When he got there, they again said there wasn't anything he could do because of "something". Anyways, to make a long story short they were taken off and come to find out there wasn't any reason for them to get pulled over and there wasn't any reason we couldn't have helped - that "something" turned out to be nothing (but I have to add there was an issue from the past they needed to take care before they were released).
I am just sick right now. I know I am naive, but to see injustice happen in person is a lot different than reading about it in the newspaper. I am sorry if this is too vague to follow, I just don't want to write any details on a public forum like this. I just have to say that I can appreciate activists now and I will be doing my part by filing a complaint about the events that took place yesterday. It's the only way I can think of to get rid of this knot in my stomach. It just makes me long for heaven where I know the Ruler rules with justice and love.

I Need a Vacation 2-27-08
I am finally getting back into to the blogging world. I have been working a lot lately - I recently started working at a new job and my boss has me working night and day (in case I haven't told you, my new boss is my wonderful husband!). So you see, this is why I am in desparate need of a vacation. And what better way to de-stress than to spend time with old girlfriends at a Christian women's conference? So I am doing just that. In April I am meeting Rachelle and Kerry in Spokane WA to go to the Women of Faith conference with our friend Bonnie (who lives in Spokane). We have all been friends since high school and although we don't get together very often, when we do, it's like we haven't skipped a beat! We are all so different, but our common thread is still our love for the Lord. Kerry made a comment that one of us needed to find the old "pyramid" picture, so that got me rooting through my old pictures. I'll post them below. I can't wait to make more memories on our girl weekend in April! (yes Kerry, I did find the pyramid picture - too bad we didn't take a picture of us running through D'ville and waking up Suzanne's grandma :-)
Here are some pictures from our high school days:

The Highs and Lows 2-04-08

The Highs and Lows
So much has happened in the past couple of weeks. I'll start with the sad news... On Monday, the 21st, N's Stepdad passed away. He has had heart trouble for over 10 years now and was given a new heart at the end of 2005. He made the most out of the time he was given, travelling to CA to see his daughters and grandchildren just a couple of months ago. It is sad to see him go, but what an amazing blessing to know that he is in heaven and he no longer feels pain. The funeral was Saturday. It was a very nice service and his daughter did an amazing job with the eulogy. He will definitely be missed :-(.
As I mentioned in the previous post, we dedicated Bear two weeks ago. The night before was Sweet Pea's first night in her "big girl bed". It is actually the same mattress that she had in her crib, but now she has a toddler bed that she can get in and out of by herself. She has done so great with it and I love it because I can lay down with her! She is such a snuggle bunny (even though her cast gets in the way). It's been quite a time for her recently - she is also potty trained (during the day) and we are working on getting rid of the paci, which I think will be our toughest challenge.
On Wednesday the 23rd, we took Bear to his 9 month appt and again he lived up to his nickname. He is over 30 inches tall (over 95th%) and weighs over 20 pounds (50th %). N says he is tall and skinny, just like his daddy! He is a big baby, which makes it so fun to squeeze him. And it only took 9 months, but I have finally given him a proper room. We moved all of my office furniture out and decorated his room. As crazy at it may sound, I have really had baby fever lately, so I am thinking that finishing his room will cure it for a while :-)! (At least N hopes it will)
Last Tuesday we had strong winds come through and apparently they were directed straight at our fence. About midday one side of our fence just blew over. I didn't really think it was that big of a deal until we had to take each dog out on a leash 3 or 4 times a day and until we received an estimate of $1,500 to fix it (or $5,000 for a new one). Keep in mind we are hoping to sell this house in a few months, so we don't want to sink a lot of money into it! After I convinced N that he wouldn't have time to fix it last weekend, we finally found some guys to fix it for a little less than the first estimate. Yea! They finished it today.
Oh, and the cast came OFF today! The x-rays of Sweet Pea's arm showed the bones are healing but they are still broken :-(. The Dr says we have to keep her "on the ground" (not flying through the air or jumping from couches) for 2 weeks. It's tough to keep a 2 year-old down, especially with a new found freedom. So I secretly wish she was still wearing the cast.
I'll post pics soon...

Bear's Dedication 1-24-08
This past Saturday was a very special day. We dedicated and commited to the Christian nurture of our dear Bear at church. It was neat to have Pastor Steve read a special verse to our son as I looked at his precious little face on the screen above us. It is just awe-inspiring to think that God has a special plan for his life and that He is working through us now, to begin His work. Afterwards, we went to dinner to celebrate. It was special to share the day with our family, since they will also contribute to his Christian growth throughout his life. Unfortunately my dad wasn't able to make it (he had just gotten home from some foreign country), but I know my mom was smiling down from heaven as it was also her birthday - Happy Birthday Mom! Here are a few pictures from the night. The pictures of the screen are a little dark, sorry :-)..jpg)

She Broke It! 1-21-08
The inevitable finally happened. After a couple of close calls, Sweet Pea broke a bone, or two actually. When she was 4 or 5 months old she rolled off of our really tall bed (it was probably 3 1/2 feet tall). N and I thought we would never get over it. We knew right away that she was okay, but we were traumatized by the thud and then sudden scream we heard. It literally took a week for the pits in our stomachs to disappear (and we still carry the guilt). Then when she was 18 months old I was giving her a piggyback ride through the hall and she leaned back and started to fall. I did have a hold of her pants, but she fell head first, backwards, so her pants slipped right off as she fell to the ground. I thought for sure I had just broken her head. Again, miraculously she was okay. Well last week, just after N got home from work, she was running around the house with excitement. All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I see something flying off of the back of the couch. As soon as I heard the thud, I knew something was broken. I was completely distraught, I couldn't even pick her up. So N came and picked her up and you could tell by the way her arm was bending between her wrist and elbow, that something wasn't right. Even though she kept saying "my boo-boo is okay", we had x-rays taken the next day and they showed otherwise. So, now she has a beautiful purple cast to wear for a few weeks. She is doing great! Here are a few pictures to prove it:

My Little Cinderella 1-18-08
So, Sweet Pea's new thing is Cinderella. She watched it (on VHS, no less) for the first time the other night and has watched it all the way through at least five times since then. Anyways, it has renewed her love of her halloween costume that just happened to be a Cinderella dress! She wouldn't take it off all weekend and has already donned the gown this morning. But, to my point - she has been asking her daddy to dance with her a lot lately, especially since she has been wearing her dress (I think N likes it better now that he is Cinderella's prince rather than the Beast :-)). I can't even explain the love I feel for my sweet daughter and my wonderful husband as I watch them waltzing around the living room. I don't think I'll ever forget that feeling! Here are some pictures of Cinderella and her prince.
And here is a video of Steven Curtis Chapman singing "Cinderella". It's about him taking time to dance with his daughter because he knows she'll only be his for a while. I cry every time I hear it.

Sweet Pea's class had Crazy Socks and Hat day earlier this week. I called my sister-in-law the night before for some ideas (she always knows what to do since she has 3 boys - all older than SP). We decided to use her suggestion of painting some long white socks ~ Thanks Aunt G! Sweet Pea had a blast painting and she was so proud to wear them. Here are some pictures:

Is It Really Over?
ETA: I forgot about Sweet Pea's School Christmas party. Here are a couple of pictures:
Walking back to class:
Having lunch with Daddy and her friends:
Well, I guess the Christmas season is officially over. I have to admit, I am a bit sad. This was a special year (as I am sure every Christmas will be from now on) - it was Bear's first Christmas, the first time Sweet Pea understood that Christmas was a special time to celebrate Jesus' birthday and to spend time with family (and she could actually open presents and really cared about what was inside), our fifth and probably last Christmas in this house and my fifth Christmas without my mom (I always heard the first year was the toughest, but I would beg to differ). We had a great time visiting family and celebrating our Savior's birth. Our Christmas always starts on Christmas Eve Eve, also known as N's birthday. This year we went to our chruch service on the 23rd and then celebrated N's birthday at Nana and Poppy's house with E and K's family and J and J's family. The only picture I have is of N and the kids in their matching clothes. I know it may sound a little dorky, but I thought it was so sweet that N was proud to match his son and daughter. I am sure it won't be long before they won't allow it! (N had a little allergy thing going on, so his eye is a little red)
On Christmas Eve we drove to FW and celebrated Christmas with Nana, Poppy, JJ&L and EKM&A. It was very fun and rambunctious as always. After lunch and presents, we went to E&K's church service where E plays the drums! It was awesome. Here are some pics:
When we got home we opened presents with Pappy and MeMe. Here are some pics (I don't have many, I think MeMe took some, though):
On Christmas morning Bear was very excited about all of the wrapped presents from Santa. He thought they were very fun to chew on. Then, Sweet Pea came downstairs and saw the presents Santa "left" - Pappy met him on the porch and brought the presents inside (Sweet Pea is very afraid of Santa and cried every time we told her Santa was coming in our house, so we had to figure out a way to get the presents in the house without him coming in). It was a fun morning!
Later that day we had lunch at Oma and Opa's. They gave Sweet Pea new baby dolls that are so cute. She loves to take care of them!
Then, on Friday we drove out to Hughes Springs to see most of N's cousins and their kids. Sweet Pea had fun and was worn out by the end of the day. And of course it wouldn't be a trip to Hughes Springs without a new experience for one of the kids - Bear had his first taste of donut and Diet Pepsi. I am sure he's ready to go back.
Here are a few pictures from our trip:
It was a wonderful Christmas and I hope Christmas will always be about spending time with loved ones and celebrating our Savior's birth. I have to get to work, now. I think I have covered most of the Christmas celebration's with family. My Auntie and Uncle just left today, so I'll have to post pics from their visit soon. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and you are enjoying the new year. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family (immediate and extended) and friends.
